May 30, 2023 Tuesday, the stock market has fallen waiting for results from the substance of debt ceiling talks, or lack thereof. President Biden and House Speaker McCarthy reached a tentative agreement to raise the debt ceiling and avoid the U.S. defaulting on its debt obligations. The S&P 500 was nil, while the stock indexes lost 98 points.

The agreement was reached over the Memorial Day weekend as both Republicans and Democrats wanted to get concessions for their respective party’s during the debt negotiations. -SB
