The creator and founder of the “Famous Amos” brand and cookies has died. Wally Amos died August 13, 2024; surrounded by his family and loved ones in Honolulu, Hawaii. He founded “Famous Amos” in 1975 in his cookie shop on Sunset Blvd, in Hollywood, California.

His first year in business in 1975, “Famous Amos” Cookies brought in over $10 million dollars in revenue. The cookie brand paved the lane for other competitors to enter the baked goods industry, such as Mrs. Fields and David’s Cookies. He eventually sold all of his controlling interest and shares to the Shansby Group for over $3 million dollars, in 1988. His legacy remains monumental in the foods and baked goods industry. – SB
