ByteDance (TikTok parent company) has sued the U.S. government over its potential ban of the platform. This is if TikTok’s parent corporation ByteDance, does not sell the USA subsidiary of TikTok.

ByteDance has indicated that a potential ban of its US operations would jeopardize its commitment of free speech and expression, instituted in the United States Constitution. A ban of the popular app would disassociate the rest of the United States citizens from the rest of the world, ByteDance has stated.

US President Biden has signed into law the Protecting Americans From Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act, at the end of April 2024; which strictly specifies that ByteDance has to sell the US operations of TikTok, within one year, or face a permanent ban of the platform. -SB
