Spirit & Frontier Airlines are planning a $6.6 billion merger. The merger would make the combined company the 5th largest airline company in the United States. With the combined merger, over 1,000 daily flights would be produced and 145 locations in total.
Spirit & Frontier put out a joint statement, indicating they were competing in the low-ticket fare transportation/airline travel markets. Both airlines have seen revenue losses in the last couple of years because of the corona virus pandemic and less travelers and vacationers across the US. The merger must go through federal antitrust regulators for approval. -SB
